A law firm is seeking a Construction Litigation Associate Attorney for their Portland, ME office. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of construction litigation experience and be admitted to the Maine Bar or able to obtain admission. Experience with drafting and negotiating construction and design/engineering contracts is a plus. The candidate must possess strong research, writing, and verbal/interpersonal communication skills. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage construction litigation cases from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing for trial.
  • Draft and negotiate construction and design/engineering contracts and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal analyses to support case strategies.
  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and court proceedings.
  • Provide legal counsel on construction disputes, contract breaches, and project management issues.
  • Collaborate with clients, experts, and other legal professionals to develop case strategies and solutions.
  • Review and analyze contract documents, project specifications, and other relevant materials.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the Maine Bar or ability to obtain admission.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction litigation.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiation of construction and design/engineering contracts preferred.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Superior verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maine Bar or eligibility to seek admission.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in construction litigation processes and procedures.
  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating construction-related contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
