A law firm in Madison is seeking a motivated Mid-Senior Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with a strong background in patent prosecution and strategic IP portfolio management. Duties:

  • Manage and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for patent portfolio management.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate opinions and due diligence analyses.
  • Perform landscape analyses to assess IP landscapes and competitive intelligence.
  • Advise clients on IP strategy, including patentability, infringement, and licensing issues.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to develop comprehensive IP strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Assist in IP litigation matters, including pre-litigation strategy and support.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one state and in good standing.
  • Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • 3+ years of experience focusing on patent prosecution and strategic management of patent portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law and patent regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to client service and delivering high-quality work.

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a related technical field.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Experience with IP management software and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide practical legal advice.
