Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Transactional Employment Associate to join its Denver office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney passionate about employment law but not interested in pursuing litigation. The successful candidate will provide advice and counseling to employers on a variety of employment-related issues and will work on corporate transactions, conducting due diligence, and preparing employment agreements. Duties

  • Provide advice and counseling to employers on various employment matters, including hiring, workplace policies, leaves of absence, reductions in force, and individual employment separations
  • Provide employment law support in corporate transactions, including conducting employment-related due diligence
  • Advise on employment issues in the context of deals and assist in drafting employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and other related documents
  • Research and analyze federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and case law
  • Stay updated on developments in employment law and ensure client compliance
  • Draft legally-compliant and best practice employment policies
  • Assess and advise employers on employment law topics (e.g., employee classification, disability accommodation, leaves of absence, reductions in force)
  • Assist with corporate transactions, including due diligence and reviewing/revising purchase agreements with respect to employment issues

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in employment law
  • Strong experience in providing counseling on employment law issues such as employee classifications, reasonable accommodation, and managing leaves of absence
  • Experience in preparing employment-related agreements such as employment contracts, arbitration agreements, commission plans, separation agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements
  • Knowledge of and experience in employment law compliance, federal, state, and local statutes and regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
  • Excellent writing, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking/prioritization abilities

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Colorado State Bar (preferred)

Skills

  • Expertise in employment law, including compliance and advisory services
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with specialists in related areas (e.g., employee benefits, executive compensation, intellectual property)
