Associate Attorney Insurance Defense

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its construction litigation team in Baton Rouge, LA. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably with an emphasis on insurance defense. This full-time position offers the opportunity to engage in various aspects of litigation, including drafting legal documents, conducting research, and representing clients in hearings and depositions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong legal research and writing skills and have a proven ability to work effectively within a team and independently to provide excellent legal services to clients.

Duties:

• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
• Conduct legal research and discovery to support case preparation
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings
• Draft and submit reports to clients regarding case progress
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure efficient and high-quality client service
• Manage a high-volume caseload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
• Provide legal guidance and support to clients, ensuring alignment with their objectives
• Prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
• Develop strategies for case resolution, including settlement negotiation when appropriate

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• 2-3 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on construction or insurance defense preferred
• Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage a large caseload while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
• Commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal ethics and professionalism

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Louisiana and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing abilities
