Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Portland, ME, seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney who is admitted to practice law in Maine with 3-6 years of experience in litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, superior research and writing skills, and the ability to handle a variety of litigation matters. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting motions and pleadings, counseling clients, and representing them in court proceedings and administrative hearings.

Job Duties:

• Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues related to litigation matters.
• Prepare and draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Counsel clients on legal matters and provide strategic advice.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as before state agencies and municipal boards.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff across different practice areas within the firm.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide excellent client service.
• Assist in matters outside of litigation as needed, including real estate, utility, and employment practices.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Maine State Bar and in good standing.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in litigation, preferably with experience in state and federal court proceedings.
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong client service ethic and effective communication skills.
• Willingness to work on diverse legal matters beyond litigation, including real estate, utility, and employment law.
