A Shaker Heights-based law firm is currently partnering with a legal recruitment agency to identify a dedicated and motivated attorney to join their criminal defense practice. Duties

• Manage a diverse portfolio of criminal cases from intake through post-trial proceedings

• Build and execute strategic legal defenses aligned with clients’ unique needs and circumstances

• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare persuasive court filings

• Represent clients in hearings, pre-trial conferences, plea negotiations, and trials

• Provide clear, timely, and compassionate communication with clients throughout each case

• Collaborate with a team of legal professionals to ensure thorough preparation and client support

• Maintain accurate case records and uphold internal documentation procedures

• Conduct legal consultations with prospective clients and articulate the value of services offered

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio

• 1-3 years of experience practicing criminal law (defense or prosecution)

• Demonstrated courtroom experience and familiarity with criminal procedures

• Admission to the Northern District of Ohio preferred but not required

• Ability to manage responsibilities independently while contributing to team outcomes

• High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first mindset

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Ohio

• Federal court admission (Northern District of Ohio) is advantageous

Skills

• Strong legal research and analytical skills

• Effective oral and written communication

• Tech proficiency with macOS, iPad, and Microsoft Office applications
