Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Leasing Counsel to join its well-regarded Real Estate group. This group is a prominent player in retail leasing, working with national and global retailers and landlords across the U.S. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in negotiating retail leases, with additional expertise in other asset classes such as office, industrial, or lab leases being a plus. In-house retail leasing experience is highly desirable. This position offers flexibility in location, including options for remote work or part-time arrangements, and will be compensated on an hourly basis.

Location:

  • Boston, MA

Duties:

  • Negotiate and structure retail leases on behalf of national and global retailers and landlords.
  • Provide legal counsel on various types of leases, including office, industrial, and lab leases.
  • Handle transactional real estate matters as required.
  • Work closely with clients to address legal issues in lease agreements and other related real estate matters.
  • Draft and review lease agreements, amendments, and related documents.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in negotiating retail leases.
  • In-house retail leasing experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience in negotiating leases for other asset classes (office, lab, industrial) is beneficial.
  • Strong background in transactional real estate work is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and client relationships.
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license in good standing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active law license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in negotiating retail leases, with a focus on national and global clients.
  • Strong knowledge of various lease types, including office, industrial, and lab spaces.
  • Ability to handle complex real estate transactions with a high level of client service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
