The Candidate will be responsible to represent low-income clients in a wide range of humanitarian immigration matters, with an emphasis on change of status, permanent residence, citizenship, removal defense, asylum, complex family-based cases such as those requiring waivers, immigration relief under VAWA, and other immigration matters, other than employment-based immigration. Draft appropriate policies and procedures that provide for standard operating disciplines in the legal practice that comply with generally accepted legal services practices within the National JFON network and North Carolina. Manage active caseload and maintain a case management system. We will receive support and guidance from National JFON and the JFON network. Provide ongoing reports on the status of casework to the Board and to National JFON per their requirements. Provide training and guidance to support staff and volunteers on the legal services mission of JFON and the policies and practices of the sound of clinic management. Make referrals to appropriate emergency/safety services, crime victim services, and social services agencies. Conduct educational presentations about immigration laws and policies to the general public and immigrant communities. Participate in collaborations with other advocates, legal representatives, stakeholder meetings with government agencies, and similar activities. Work collaboratively with the entire Board to meet the strategic goals of the Fayetteville JFON. Communicate with the Board, clients, and the general public in a timely, professional, and complete fashion. Supervise paralegal and administrative support staff assisting in the provision of legal services, managing their performance, their quality of work, and their adherence to standard work procedures. Attend fundraising events organized by the Executive Director and/or the Board of Directors.
