Duties:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategy for clients, including potential case benefits and preparing clients/witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with prospective clients for immigration consultations and devise appropriate legal strategies.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets as needed.
  • Draft and file legal briefs for a wide range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, particularly in EOIR proceedings.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, detained individuals, citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in the State of Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
