Insurance Coverage Attorney

A law firm seeks a talented and driven Insurance Coverage Attorney to join its national and international insurance coverage practice. This position is based in New York, NY, and offers a hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate will have a strong litigation background, with extensive experience in analyzing insurance coverage issues, drafting opinions, pleadings, and motions, and conducting discovery in coverage-related litigation. Duties:

• Provide legal expertise in analyzing and interpreting insurance coverage issues across a wide range of lines, including drafting coverage opinions, pleadings, and dispositive motions.
• Handle all aspects of discovery in insurance coverage litigation, including document review and production, depositions, and other discovery tools.
• Represent clients in hearings, court conferences, and depositions, defending and advocating for clients' positions in various coverage matters.
• Argue motions and manage litigation through to resolution, whether through settlement, mediation, or trial.
• Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and industry experts to develop strategic litigation approaches and business development plans.
• Participate in business development initiatives, including contributing to articles, attending conferences, and building relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
• Maintain expertise in emerging insurance coverage issues and litigation strategies to offer innovative solutions to clients.

Requirements:

• Experience in insurance coverage litigation, including drafting coverage opinions, pleadings, and dispositive motions.
• Experience handling all aspects of discovery in litigation, including depositions, discovery requests, and document management.
• Proven track record in litigation, including taking and defending depositions, attending court conferences, and arguing motions.
• Strong communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in court and other legal settings.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload while working collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
• Additional bar admissions in other states are a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the New York State Bar (required).
• Additional bar memberships or certifications are a plus.

• In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage litigation, including expertise in drafting coverage opinions and dispositive motions.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex issues and offer creative legal solutions.
