A prominent law firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced attorney to join its litigation team with a focus on insurance coverage and defense matters. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of knowledge in state and federal court litigation across New York and New Jersey, with the ability to independently manage case preparation through trial. Duties:

• Represent clients in complex insurance coverage disputes and general liability defense litigation

• Handle all aspects of litigation from inception through trial, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and court appearances

• Provide strategic legal analysis and develop case strategies in collaboration with clients and internal teams

• Draft comprehensive coverage opinions and litigation-related documents

• Maintain responsibility for managing multiple active caseloads with minimal supervision

• Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations

• Coordinate with clients, experts, and co-counsel as necessary throughout the litigation process

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of recent, hands-on experience in insurance coverage and defense litigation

• Demonstrated experience in both federal and state court proceedings, particularly in New York

• Ability to handle matters independently from investigation to verdict or resolution

• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

• Proven record of managing multiple complex litigation files simultaneously

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (mandatory)

• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar (preferred)

Skills:

• Strong litigation and trial advocacy skills

• Proficient in legal drafting and preparing trial documents

• Effective communication with clients, courts, and team members

• Strategic problem-solving abilities and critical thinking

• Familiarity with insurance policy language and interpretation
