Job Overview

A prominent law firm with a nationally recognized Entertainment & Media practice is seeking a Transactional Copyright Attorney with 4–6 years of experience to join its dynamic Music Industry team. This role involves managing music and entertainment-related transactions from inception to completion, with a focus on copyright law, intellectual property licensing, and complex deal structuring. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in copyright and intellectual property transactions, a passion for the music industry, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative legal solutions.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate agreements related to copyright, licensing, acquisition, and sale of music and intellectual property assets

  • Manage entertainment and music industry transactions from start to finish

  • Collaborate with team members to develop creative legal strategies for complex client needs

  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to copyright law and related matters

  • Work closely with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to support project goals

  • Maintain strong client communication and ensure timely execution of deliverables

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

  • Proficiency in copyright law and IP licensing

  • Experience working with music or entertainment industry matters

  • Demonstrated ability to manage deals independently

  • Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Deal sheet and academic transcript required for application

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (specific state bar requirements may vary depending on firm location)

Skills

  • Drafting and negotiation of complex agreements

  • Deep understanding of copyright and IP laws

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
