A law firm in Deerfield Beach, FL, is seeking a General Liability (Maritime) Associate Attorney to join its team. The successful candidate will have 2+ years of experience in general liability and maritime law. This role demands exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills, and the ability to manage a high caseload effectively while meeting a billable hour requirement. The attorney will work on complex maritime and general liability cases, involving file reviews, legal research, trial preparation, and client representation.

Duties:

• Conduct thorough file reviews and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Represent clients regularly in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Manage expert witness retention and collaborate effectively with them.
• Prepare for and attend trials, ensuring comprehensive case preparation.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Travel as required for court appearances, depositions, and client meetings.

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admission to practice in the State of Florida; admission to other states is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in general liability and maritime law.
• Demonstrated experience in litigation, legal research, and drafting legal documents.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to self-manage and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and excellent client skills.
