Profile

A law firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Law Associate Attorney to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. The candidate will work closely with the Supervising Attorney, a Certified Family Law Specialist, along with fellow associates and legal staff, to deliver exceptional service and achieve outstanding results for clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in family law, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in court and at settlement conferences and/or mediations.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients, including pleadings, declarations, and settlement agreements.
  • Advise clients on family law matters, including custody, visitation, property disputes, and support.
  • Issue and respond to discovery requests.
  • Draft, prepare, and review disclosures.
  • Negotiate settlements for custody, visitation, property disputes, and support.
  • Comply with all civil procedures, family code, and court rules.
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Meet deadlines and manage caseloads effectively.
  • Propound and respond to discovery.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 17 years of experience exclusively in family law.
  • Previous experience in representing clients in family law matters.
  • Familiarity with various legal documents and procedures in family law.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as within a team.
  • Highly motivated professional with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to enjoy and effectively handle courtroom proceedings.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Certification as a Family Law Specialist is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
