Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a dedicated EOIR Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in immigration law, with experience representing clients in removal proceedings and preparing a wide range of immigration applications. The role requires managing a varied caseload, interacting with clients and legal entities, and providing strategic legal solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases efficiently.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration application packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine the best immigration strategies.
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits and outcomes for clients' cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven ability to move legal cases forward and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in California.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and strategize with fellow associates.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.
