Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for an experienced Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation team, specializing in Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for patent prosecution, including application drafting and working with clients on intellectual property matters. This role requires strong technical knowledge and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage complex patent cases.

Duties:

• Draft and file patent applications in the electrical engineering/software or mechanical engineering fields.
• Manage patent portfolios for clients, including prosecution, office actions, and patent litigation support.
• Collaborate with clients to provide strategic advice on intellectual property protection.
• Conduct patent searches and analyses.
• Provide legal support during patent litigation, including discovery and document preparation.
• Work closely with attorneys to develop legal strategies for intellectual property matters.
• Prepare and file responses to office actions with the USPTO.

Requirements:

• Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution.
• Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Strong experience drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.
• Knowledge of patent litigation is an advantage.
• Experience working with clients in the technology sector.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Education:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field such as Physics or Mathematics.

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration.

Skills:

• Patent application drafting and prosecution.
• Ability to analyze complex technical details and communicate them.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Experience with patent litigation is beneficial.
