Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in data privacy counseling. The ideal candidate will lead privacy and cybersecurity projects, interface directly with clients, and develop comprehensive compliance programs, while demonstrating expertise in state privacy laws and industry-specific regulations.

Duties:

• Lead privacy and cybersecurity projects, managing direct client interactions.
• Conduct compliance gap assessments and develop comprehensive compliance programs.
• Draft and review privacy policies, procedures, and guidance, including data subject request (DSR) procedures and incident response plans.
• Create and implement contracting templates, playbooks, and provide advice on data sale/sharing and targeted advertising.
• Assist clients in determining priorities, assessing risks, and implementing effective compliance programs.
• Oversee the development of playbooks and contracting strategies, ensuring alignment with client needs.
• Manage large and complex matters independently or in collaboration with a team, facilitating project completion.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of practical experience in data privacy and cybersecurity counseling.
• Experience with state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, WA MHMD) and implementing compliance measures.
• Preferred experience with adtech, cookies/online trackers, and related regulations (e.g., TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB rules).
• Strongly preferred experience in financial and health/life sciences sectors, including familiarity with GLBA, HIPAA, and FTC/CFPB rules.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in the jurisdiction (Delaware).
• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) preferred but not mandatory.
