Duties: The candidate provides guidance and assistance for the protection, management and improvement of the wildlife habitat for the forest and range lands. Conducts field reconnaissance in order to provide technical advice related to a variety of wildlife species and habitats. Determines the need for and recommends wildlife habitat restoration, enhancement or improvement projects. Works cooperatively with Federal and State wildlife resource agencies. Coordinates wildlife habitat management projects with timber, engineering, recreation and other resource programs. Collaborates with the public and our partners with an interdisciplinary approach. Assists the supervisory wildlife biologist to develop proposed habitat restoration actions, conduct effects analyses and consultation with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Performs contract administration duties for project implementation. Ensures projects adhere to federal laws, policies and regulations.
