Immigration Paralegal
The candidate will be assisting attorneys in the management of client relationships. Preparing immigration cases as assigned for submittal to the appropriate government agency and achieving a mastery of case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Demonstrating independence in handling cases and achieving goals. Understanding the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following the company’s service standards. Working with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Conducting basic legal research to support the attorneys with respect to changing case requirements and legal developments. Preparing forms according to information received from clients. Preparing letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalizing documents after review by the attorney. Demonstrating ability to manage a high caseload and work within strict timelines. Monitoring the status of all filed applications and petitions. Running reports to assist in managing one’s own caseload. Assisting with the review of billing protocols and ensuring that billing guidelines are met. Evaluating cases and assisting in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Providing company contacts with training and guidance regarding the company’s systems and general immigration matters. Engaging in frequent contact with company client(s). Keeping abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Bachelor’s Degree and/or related paralegal certificate preferred. Should have 3+ years of experience in immigration law and working in a law firm environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient computer and word processing skills. Detail oriented, well-organized and able to handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of immigration case management software preferred (e.g. LawLogix, INSZoom, Immigration Tracker, etc.).
